Community life
This year again, at the heart of summer and of our monastic life, the solemnity of Transfiguration saw the monastic profession of two new sisters. Sr Chiara Canepa and sr Sara Lattuada at the end of their period of probation made their solemn profession before God, before the Church, and before the community, of living as Christian nuns in a definitive and irrevocable covenant. Our bishop, Gabriel Mana, who was present as usual for the vespers of the feast, reminded us of the true sense of this covenant. “To enter into covenant with God does not mean to feel that we love God very much, but rather to know, to believe that we are loved by him, who is goodness and faithfulness. To enter into covenant is an act of freedom, which is expressed in believing in God’s love for us, staying at our post, that of the beloved: in fact, we are lovers, but above all we are beloved.” Numerous friends and guests participated in the vigil liturgy, which we lived in communion with monks and nuns of other communities, our friends: the sisters of Cumiana, mother Maria Pia of Civitella San Paolo, prior Luca and br Andrea of Dumenza, br Abramo of Pra’d Mill, fr Danyal, a Coptic monk who lately has spent long periods with us.
In addition, in June, at the vigil office for the feast of St John the Baptist, father of monastics, with joy and thanksgiving to the Lord the community saw the monastic reception of our sisters Annachiara and Silvia. Having finished their novitiate, they pronounced their promises of celibacy and common life in monastic life according to our Rule of Bose.
